Yeah, so that’s Kristen up there. She is stunning. She is also my sister Stacey’s best friend. I’ve known her since the awkward stage, which she clearly got through just fine.
We were totally thrilled to be able to photograph Kristen and Jason’s wedding in Jersey City, with the lower Manhattan skyline as the obscenely beautiful backdrop. We were so happy to be a party of their wedding day, which you will see was packed with emotion, lots of happy tears and a crazy party. I can say for sure that Kristen did NOT stop smiling all day.
Starting with getting ready. Eric covered the ladies getting ready at The Westin Jersey City Newport, and there are some serious breathtaking views of Downtown and Midtown Manhattan. Getting ready is often my favorite part of the day, I love the energy and anticipation that you can feel building.
Tell me if you agree? These shots taken by Eric and Anthony of the girls and the guys getting ready make me feel like I was there! I totally loved seeing my sister Stacey, of Blush Couture effortlessly playing the role of hair and makeup artist SLASH maid of honor. I don’t know anyone that could do both so well.
Kristen is a crier and this moment is a great example of why Kristen was very lucky to have a maid of honor/makeup artist by her side all day. The day was filled with lots of emotion, and her dad seeing her for the first time was no exception. Tears all around, I absolutely love it.
Kristen and Jason’s first look was also full of happy tears, I love these – she is crying before she even get’s there. so cute.
Bridal party, skyline, seagull. check. check. check.
The view of lower Manhattan from Jersey City features unparalleled views of the NYC skyline. A perfect day.
The Liberty House is truly a special venue, and I love this long exposure shot that Eric took of the banquet room. The challenge is that by the time we get to shoot the venue and details, we have minutes to capture the room that the bride and groom have worked so hard to make personal and gorgeous; it’s our job to capture it with the same attention to detail. The room is never entirely empty and we can’t waste our few seconds on clearing out the room, so a work around for this situation, is a tripod and a long exposure. A 20-30 second exposure pretty much erases anyone moving in the scene, so we get a clean shot and the venue gets all those candles lit. Magic tricks rock.
The details. Bride getting ready at: The Westin Hotel in Jersey City, NJ | Bridal Hair & Makeup: Stacey Palancia of Blush Couture | Ceremony & Reception: Liberty House | DJ: Kris Abramson of Elite Entertainment | Floral Design: Rita’s Floral Touch | Gown Boutique: Priscilla of Boston | Gown Designer: Vineyard Collection | Shoes: Jimmy Choo
The night shots are so damn pretty, I don’t think there is a single bride that wouldn’t be jealous of this location. I mean, I’m even jealous. I want these pictures.
