Destination Bridal Photography Session in San Francisco, CA | LaRue & Brian
For this post (and these images) to accurately tell the story, I have to go back…actually way back to the beginning of our journey with LaRue & Brian. I know most of you probably skip right down to the images, but for those of you that need the details…sit back & enjoy. Also…reading the long version of my short story will give time for all of the EPIC images time to load.
So this one time, a super sweet girl, we’ll call her LaRue (because that’s her name) wanted to give her two best friends, Kelly & Nando, a kick *ss gift for their engagement. Since Kelly & Nando were already fans of our work and had discussed having us photograph her wedding, LaRue contacted us to get details on giving them an engagement photography session in Baltimore, MD as a gift. For those of you that don’t know, Eric’s academic career began in Baltimore and it’s a very special place to us…it was really a no brainer to head down to Charm City for Kelly & Nando’s engagement shoot! We ended up hitting it off so well with Kelly & Nando that we were even lucky enough to photograph their wedding this past summer. Anyway, up until this point we obviously knew that LaRue was super cool girl and an awesome friend, but the best part is that she was one of Kelly’s bridesmaids, so when we actually got to meet her at the wedding we realized that her and her husband, Brian, are also a blast! At Kelly & Nando’s wedding, LaRue had a chance to chat with Eric about the possibility of scheduling a day after bridal photography session for her to wear her dress again with the goal of getting some of the more artistic, edgy images (that she didn’t have on her wedding day). Well, the answer was yes…but, quickly became HELL YES when LaRue went on to explain that she wanted her pictures taken in San Francisco, California, where her and Brian live and both work for Apple in Silicon Valley (had to throw that in because it makes us love them even more). Lucky for us LaRue meant business, and we were scheduled to fly out to San Francisco for their shoot within a few weeks.
Eric & I had never been to San Francisco, so we relied on LaRue & Brian to show us the ropes, and I have to say, nothing is better than visiting a city with people who know where to eat & what to see. We are so insanely grateful and fortunate for the experience that we had because not only did we visit the “main attractions”, like the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco City Hall, and Lombard Street but…we also visited some insanely cool local spots on Haight Street, our absolute faves were: food at Cha! Cha! Cha!, cocktails at The Alembic Bar, and shopping at Kids Only where we bought the kids these rockin’ New Skool headphone hoodies designed by Bay Area Designer and Graffiti Artist, Nate1.
First….Eric wanted everyone to know that this is his favorite ![]()

LaRue & Brian – Thank you again for showing us your awesome city, being such great hosts, and letting us capture the whole thing from beginning to end! This trip far exceeded our expectations and we definitely have to get back there with the kiddies to see everything we missed.
We started our San Francisco adventure out and about the Golden Gate Bridge… Can you spot the plane? I didn’t even notice it until I was reviewing the photos at home!

On the way down to the beach Eric found this great little nook to grab some more intimate shots…

After the Golden Gate Bridge we headed to our next San Francisco landmark: Lombard Street

After photographing LaRue and Brian on Lombard Street, it was time to put the cameras and wedding dress away and hit some awesome dinner action. For our second day of shooting we had the WONDERFUL opportunity to experience a record-breaking typhoon! Sweet!!! But not to worry, LaRue and Brian got us into the incredible San Francisco City Hall….another iconic San Francisco landmark.
But first, we started off at their apartment….a few details….

Did I mention LaRue made these? Yep…

San Francisco City Hall baby!!

“Yaaaay! The rain stopped, let’s go outside!!!”

And finally…..our last two shots Eric grabbed while out to dinner on Haight Street….

Thanks again for everything guys, you ARE THE BEST!!!

That stair case shot looking down is insane, I also love the ones with the GG bridge in the background. Awesome!!
These are all awesome! What a fun adventure for you guys!!!
Totally love all of these great shoot, awesome story and I think the third from the bottom is my fav just beautiful!
Wow. These are all insane. Love this whole shoot!! I literally said, “Holy crap” out loud when I scrolled down to the SF City Hall! Love your lighting. The last two are also so pretty and simple. Awesome. These two must be beyond excited with their images!
Fantastic use of off camera flash!!! I LOVE this shoot.
Amazing shots in an amazing city! I really enjoyed these.
Those shoes WOW! She did a wonderful job on them. I also like Eric’s favorite picture but my favorites are at the city hall. The large staircase entrance (How did you manage that?); and the bubble window (round corner, I guess) was great. I also enjoyed seeing the artwork on the ceilings. Your picture showed them in detail. It was nice to see the couple with the architecture and artwork in the background. I also like the one with the town in the background. These pictures included a lot of history and will forever be cherished by Larue, Brian and future offsprings…..
