time for more teaser pics

I always get excited about every single shoot and event I photograph.  But sometimes I’ll have a shoot that turns out so incredible I can’t get home fast enough to look at the photos.  My session with Amy today was absolutely phenomenal….perfect light, stunning model, and excellent assistants (thanks ladies!)  I knew I just had to post some pictures on my blog as soon as I got home.  Here are a few to hold everyone over until I finish the slideshow.  (And Jake, this time a “few” means three and not “two” – okay?!).

So far, these three are my absolute faves of the day. I could not get enough of Amy’s beautiful, huge blue eyes!

the end of pocket wizards?

A post for photographers…

How many of you out there are rocking pocket wizards for off-camera flash use?  I’m assuming a good number of you are.  What is your biggest complaint of them?  I’ll tell you what mine is:  super-slow sync speed.  If I had to choose one “method” that I consistently use for almost every single picture I take it’s a wide-open aperture and fast shutter speed.  Nothing gets me more excited then some creamy bokeh!  How fast can your shutter be when you’re using your PWs?  Better not be faster then 1/250th…  Which makes shooting with a wide aperture impossible.  You don’t know how many times I’ve wanted to use some off camera flash outdoors with a wide aperture and just couldn’t do it.  Well, there might be a new solution out there.  Check out the promo video by Still-Motion for the new radio popper.

Here’s the money quote from their site:

  • For the first time every – high speed sync by radio, all the way up to 1/8000. Now you can get those beautiful soft backgrounds at wide f/stops in the outdoor light without being locked into your camera’s max x-sync (usually about 1/250) – now with high speed sync via radio, you can be more creative than ever.”

Did I mention you can also use TTL? Where do I sign up??

There were a number of people that came together to make this shoot a huge success.  Thanks to  everyone:

  • 2nd shooter: Danielle of Beyond the Lens Photography
  • Make-up:  Stacey of Blush Couture
  • Bouquet:  Sofie and the fabulous ladies at Wildflowers in Woodbury
  • Wine/hors d’oeuvres:  my fabulous wife
  • And of course, these pictures would be nothing without our beautiful model Elizabeth.
  • Music:  Telepopmusik
