Celebrating Family Photos

Wishing you a healthy, happy and successful Happy New Year from my family to yours!

Here are my kids (and our dog Penny) giving me a total of 5 minutes to get a holiday card this year……

I was honored to take photos of a fellow photographer and her beautiful family – thanks Gina!

I know, I know…. could they be any cuter?

Heather and Ross were channelling the Ralph Lauren look – and they rocked it!

We have a graffiti thing going with Deb’s kids…. no spray paint this year though.

Do you see the sparkle in her eyes?

Yeah – that is their big brother in the back ground!

Did they nail the “coordinating but not matching” look or what!?!?

I LOVE this one!

This almost became our holiday card – my daughter loves to torture her brother and she’ll do it any way she can….

I hope to see you in 2013!

I am sure I am not the only one to have noticed a different new years resolution on facebook this year. Instead of the usual "eat healthy" or "go to the gym more often" - because let's be honest - those go without saying, they are on almost everyone's subconscious lists every year. No this year, I saw people pledging to take more photos of their family. I think we have all been reminded of the importance of this recently.

So I wanted to share some of my favorites from the family mini sessions from the fall. We were lucky with the weather and I had a blast hanging out with all the families and making new friends.

Believe me, if photographers were cobblers then our kids would have no shoes!!! So I know how hard it is sometimes but don't forget to come out from behind the camera once in a while and remember to take more photos of your family this year and every year.

Fairfield County CT Football Family Session

Nothing like a Dad and his mini-

me.

Do you see THAT look?….THAT is what I am talking about!

I think this might be my favorite of the day.

Tara and Billy are big football fans so that had to part of their family shoot!

Tara and I got to know each other via e-mail, so when I finally met her and her family it was just a formality....I already knew that I liked her!

When I went through the images of our time together I kept noticing that look... you know, THAT look. The look that says I love you, I am proud of you and I think my heart could just burst watching you be you. I was honored to capture THAT look for this wonderful family.

It is also the busiest time of the year for weddings.....so, I am offering a limited number of family mini sessions on October 7th and 21st. Time slots will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis so book early!

Kelly and Mike are first time parents but they have got it down. They let me hold Ella and rock her to sleep in my arms when she was a newborn and I got to do it again when she turned six months old!!! But see for yourself... OMG, aren't they just the cutest family?

I have a feeling I will be seeing more of baby Ella - I certainly hope so!

Lichfield County Family Session

It is so tempting to try to figure out what they would be saying to each other – I have a feeling big sister Breanna might hear all their secrets!

Here is a dose of twin cuteness to brighten this rainy day!

People ask me all the time the best time to do a family session. Photographers can talk for hours about the buttery light of early evening but a family of three small children and parents who both work full time meant that we had a few different schedules to work around so we improvized - we met in Harrybrook Park in New Milford at noon on a HOT and humid day, just an hour before a major thunderstorm rolled through and right before Dad - Sonny - had to go to work. We found one of the few shady spots in the park and tried to move as little as possible!!

When I look at the images from that day, I wouldn't have had it any other way.

So the "rules" go out the window yet again.

A new baby sister

When you have your first baby you wonder if your life can get any more hectic. Sara has two active little boys – Derek is four (and yes, he is named after that famous Derek) and Jarett is two and into everything. But Sara managed to keep

calm, cool and collected and she seemed completely relaxed while I played with her new baby girl. Yep – third child!!!

You never know how it is going to work out when you show up for a newborn shoot but Laina was a super star. She slept, she didn't pee all over my blankets and she made the cutest noises EVER!
